As I mentioned in my last entry, I've recently begun full-time employment at the Linux Foundation, specifically working on the Linux Standards Base team. Well, one of the first tasks I've been asked to do is to work on checking Firefox for LSB-compliance. I've been asked to be as public about my findings and to document my efforts for those who may come after me.
Thus, I've decided to dedicate a book on my website specifically to my Firefox work. This book isn't officially a LF-production... it really is just me documenting my progress. It may contain rants and things that aren't, naturally, the LF's words. However, as a progress-keeper, it should suffice. I'm sure later on I'll take my notes here and make them into something more consumable to the general populace.

Well, I've had yet another big life change on the order of this. Tomorrow (Friday) will be my last day at Progeny Linux Systems. Starting on Monday I will be working full time for the Linux Foundation.
In addition to this, I am in the process of moving from my previous home to my new home.

Okay, so my wife is out of town this weekend. This means I'll be 'bach-ing' it, all alone. Well, some guys might have a porn night with the guys, or invite strippers over or something. Me, I do something much more sinister....
I play FFXI all weekend long.
Or at least, I would... if I could only get online in the game.

In case you don't already know, my wife and I have just found a house and are trying to buy it. We will hopefully be moving in a month or so. The problem is, we'd like a good solution to my video game problem.

Chances are, you've heard about the Republican Congressmen who said that Evolution is a myth spread by Jews. Well, from that article you can find a link to a site that was mentioned in another memo from another elected official, namely fixedearth.com.
fixedearth.com is a site that claims, among other things, that the Earth is really the fixed center of the Universe and everything else revolves around it. It also says that any and every evidence to the contrary is part of some "Kabbalist physicist Albert Einstein" conspiracy.
Wow.... Just wow....

Just posted a new entry on my FFXI character diary page which included the following cool picture. The picture was neat enough that it warranted me posting it here. Enjoy!

It's no secret I'm an avid gamer.
I've been collecting since I was 3 or 4 years old, have owned nearly every system since Pong, and play games daily.
Recently, however, I've become hopelessly addicted to collections of classic games. The Activision Anthology on the PS2; The endless parade of Midway collections for PS2, GC, and Xbox; The myriad of Atari collections; The divine and sublime Sega Genesis collection for the PS2 and PSP. You name it, chances are I've devoured it.
The only problem is that all of these collections have spoiled me and left me pining for more....

I've recently rolled out a massive Drupal upgrade across all the sites that I run that are Drupal-powered, and in the process I started using the Captcha Drupal module to try and combat spam. You see, a lot of my Drupal-based sites are fairly high profile, for example FFXI ClanAM is in the top results for most Google queries on FFXI-related things. The end result is that we get hit pretty hard with spam.
Well, one of the sites that was hit REALLY hard was (and is) the Tux4Kids one. In cleaning the mess that the spammers made there, I found some comments from people asking what the fuck is going on with Tux4Kids. They were bitching and moaning about link spam, and how the site has been in transition for a while. But no one was offering any help.
So, I'd like to set the record straight on Tux4Kids right now.

Back in 2003, I made a theming system for my personal websites. This was one of the themes available for it. |

Well, if you read my last tirade on the 360 version of Doom you already know that I own a fuckload of Dooms. And despite the apparent resolve I claimed to have in that entry I did, in fact, buy the 360 version of Doom. Not only did I buy it, but I've been playing the shit out of that game. I'm currently on the last chapter in the game, and will soon have every achievement in it unlocked. It's safe to say that I have been devouring it, the single-player, the mutli-player, the various difficulty modes, I've been eating it up.
Well, as if this game didn't already showcase my weakness enough, it seems they will be throwing me yet another curveball...

Wow, what an exciting year for video games. Two new consoles, a whole new era of online gameplay, and a fresh battle for console supremacy. This year, since we had such radical change in the console arena, I will include some commentary on that.
So let's get on with it!

Well, I got a last-minute Christmas gift in the form of a new cell phone. The T-Mobile MDA, a cell phone and PDA powered by (blech) WindowsCE (or whatever they call it these days).
Honestly, the little bugger is kind of kack ass. My only real gripe with it at this point is that I can't force it to stop using GPRS for internet connectivity (I'm always in a Wi-Fi area these days, so that's what I want to use instead of this slow-ass and expensive GPRS thing). Oh, and I will say that dialing is a pain unless you have the number already programmed in (try calling someone with the stylus while you're driving).
Other than those two flaws, the phone is rocking. 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player, portable apps., it's got it all.

Well, apparently, Soy makes you gay. I personally drink soy milk and eat a lot of soy-based foods (I'm mostly vegetarian). Ergo, I must be gay.
It really is a relief, honestly. Here I was, questioning my sexuality, wondering if my tastes in background images were due to a rabid lust for the female form, or just a cry for help from a tortured, homosexual soul. I mean.... of course I'm gay, here I am 30-something and I'm yet to even impregnate a woman! Egads! It's so obvious!
Thank goodness there's people out there like Jim Rutz who aren't afraid to stand up to "Big Soy" and warn people of the perils of consuming high protien, low fat, soy products!

Just read this little irritating story, and it angried up my blood.
Here's the gist of it: Verizon quoted guy for a bandwidth usage fee of 0.002 cents/KB, or $0.00002/KB. There may have been a misprinted ad or something else that quoted this price. The guy buys it, and is shocked when he gets his bill saying he was being billed at $0.002/KB. Guy calls Verizon to ask them about this, and not one fucking person he talks to understands that $0.002 does not equal 0.002 cents!
Holy fucking cow! How idiotic do you have to be to argue with someone that these two are the same? Egads, Verizon must be full of idiots.

The older content can still be accessed via this link, but most of it will no longer be maintained (with the probable exception being the screenshots).
